Best Friends Forever

A great story submitted to us by Kate Anderson

best friends forever

Angel was my first Royal Frenchel love. She looks like Snoopy and has tiny white eyelashes. She turns 4 on Thanksgiving and has brought utter joy to my life. She became a service dog naturally, staying with me in the hospital where she charmed the medical staff out of asking for her shot records!
We had a happy life together. I never really thought about having a second dog. One seemed so fulfilling and easy.

rainy day friends

Earlier this year Brandi, a golden Royal Frenchel with humurous underbite, visited while her owners were away. Overnight Angel and Brandi became best friends. Where Angel had vied for my attention around other dogs, she now made way for Brandi. Where she had been a loner, she was now playing with Brandi like a puppy. Where she had been possessive around food, the two of them shared the smallest of bowls with never a fight. On leash the two of them ran head to head. Off leash they hunted as a team, one flushing and one chasing the rabbit, cat or next moving target in the tall grass

Brandi joined our family in April to everyone’s delight.

When Angel had puppies a few months ago, Aunt Brandi was by her side to wrestle, guard and play with the puppies. If Angel went outside, with barely a look in her direction, Brandi stood guard over the puppies. If someone came to the door Brandi was there in a flash to keep the puppies safe.Brandi was the village who helped Angel raise the puppies.

Angel and Brandi are the best canine friends I have ever seen. Any day they can be seen lying on the couch like Yin and Yang, or spooning.and snoozing in the sun together.  I can now never imagine having only one dog.  Brandi's and Angel's friendship has blossomed them and our family delightfully, as only best friends can.
